What to Do on Bainbridge Island When it Rains

While most of us who live in the Northwest don’t let a gloomy day change our plans, there are certain days when you don’t feel like trekking in the wet weather. So what to do on Bainbridge Island on a rainy day? There are so many great indoor adventures to add to your itinerary! Whether you’re in the mood to explore the exhibits at the art museum and catch an independent film at the theater, enjoy wine tasting, or shop at the local boutiques, there are plenty of ways to stay dry.

The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art is a favorite for guests and locals alike. Situated near the Seattle-Bainbridge Island ferry terminal, BIMA serves as a gateway to the island’s vibrant arts scene, and the exhibits change frequently. The installations focus on artists and collections from the Puget Sound region, offering a growing Permanent Art Collection. The museum’s exhibitions feature both recognized masters and emerging artists, with significant exhibitions changing three times per year, providing 15-20 new shows annually.

The weather in the spring can be unpredictable here! Days often start grey and cloudy but open to beautiful, bright afternoons. There are always plenty of things to do on Bainbridge Island, even on a rainy day, and in fact, there is so much to explore that we always suggest making a more extended trip than just one day. While the lodging options are somewhat limited on Bainbridge Island, it’s best to book in advance, and our downtown hotel is one of the best places to stay. Not only are we within walking distance from the ferry, but our guest rooms are elegant, and our hospitality is welcoming. Book your room today!
